01/30 Getting back to nothing.

Puis me redire: "Maintenant, je suis heureuse".

01/01 Happy 2013 Year!

This year is Snake's Year in Japan!
Happy New year everybody!

(Oh Mais quelle police d’écriture sublime! haha)

This year is supposed to be celebrating the Snake in Asia, which is actually the one and only animal I am afraid of, so I decided to manage to get some extra positivity for this new year, first with trying to see the qualities this scary reptilian may have!

Thus, and in the same way, I decided to opt for a special new motto this year! :
I Hope that this year will help me to always see all the qualities one may have instead of seeing their flaws (If I can do it with a snake I can do it with anyone: D) And judging no book on its cover

And, Oh yes I have to admit I cheated for the drawing, it is just a boy disguised in Snake, having moreover a pair of arms ...

I have to do some more efforts!

Wishing you a lot of blessings and luck for this New Year!

12/10 As basic as life can be.

This is just a drawing, no caption needed,
but it's here, so let's fill the blank.
Just as drawing fills our life's blanks.

This is the NôMiso-Miso soup. Food again. Guess wordplays are hyper efficient when it comes to gastronomy. And not especially for the better obviously : )

11/15 Fine-Allemant

A bas l'humour.

J’attends

Chien à puce vermine d’enfant j’ai douze ans.

10/30 Poems published!

Hello Guys,

Recently we got a pretty much big  news for us. The poems that I am translating from Japanese to French are gonna be published in France in January! That's in fact not a big deal as it is not my poems but still, being my translations, very 間接に (indirectly) that's also somehow my first book.
I was really glad for my friend (who is also the one who lends me this cool apartement in Shibuya, so we're pretty close and we both pretty owe ourselves a lot).
That makes me also think again of a very close friend of mines (he will recognize himself for sure :) ) advising me to publish my own books. So I already have connections? Maybe not (just) that, maybe more I've got this proof that ''will'' can concretely turn out into something real.
Anyway we're working 一生懸命 on our baby now! Wish me luck!

Love,
Olfa

10/19 It's raining otoko

Here is another "Shoes Story".
 (Gosh I might be sick...)

This is one strip I draw while ago, when it was shinning EVERYSINGLEDAY without any exception.
I went to buy shoes in a store, when I ran into a clerk who asked me If I would like to pay the equivalent fee of thoses shoes (I was buying) to make it waterproof .
(Only thanks to a spray I must say...)

I just laughed at him so loud saying it haven't been raining for a while,
which was truely true.
(That was back in summer and even now, october 24th the weather remains curiously great)

This (sorcerer disguised in) man just told me this :
"Yeah but you never know, It can begin in no time,
and your shoes are Buckskinned, that would be such a pity"...

3 minutes after I had left the shop It began raining as Hell (if such things could possibly occur)

So, now I am sure, Japanese sellers have this ''extra skills'' to make you do or buy things,
and some more extras to punish you, if you dare do not.

(The real tragedy in this story is:
After two days with those shoes I realised I have been too much enthousiastic about the size...
Unfortunately meaning what it means, they are faaaaar right now...)

Rainy Kisses

10/08 Yeah, taking a 41 is a serious matter.

Hello there!

(Said the girl who was away for the past 2 months.)

"In Japan, taking a 41 is just impossible, 41 sized shoes doesn't exists just like doesn't exists bamboos forest in Egypt, dinosaurs in this 21th century or Landscape gardens on Mars"

("Err...Sumimasorry...why is it written 37 AND XL inside the shoes?....Ah because that is the same thing?...Well.... )

"So I find myself wearing THIS for almost 3 months"

(for weddings, funerals, interviews...Yepee-we-dont-care)
(Sole disappeared halfway)

so very perfectly UGLY mother of ugliness

So, once back to France .....

"In 2 weeks..."
"...20 pairs of shoes"
(16 drawn, 4 too shy to appear on the picture)

"And to my friends accompanying me shopping I gently said"

("I have the right to 23 KG of luggages Which I can use AS I WANNNNNNT (get the hell out of my face)")
...

"-Have you seen, she just neglected us, beloved blog readers, for almost 2 months and then she comes up with a 'Hello there'!
-That's not the worst, she have been travelling  she's saying that plenty of things happened into her life but she's sharing a sketch about shoes...
-How pitiful!
-Indeed..."

Those would be some remarks I'd deserve to be said! :D

That have been a long time indeed, and for real so many things happened. And as I always say I'll let you know the whoooole details, but this time that's for real, I make the promise: I won't escape anymore.
So I just posted this drawing (to keep you posted haha :D) as a way to say: I'm back~! Tadaima !! as they would say here.
I am back to work, back to strange beautifulaswellascreepy weather, to half dead drunk people on the streets, unbelievably illogical but sometimes funny rules, back to "normal".

I Just post this to make you keep patient until I can introduce you "a better me" (throughout posts of course, there is no real "better me" : ) ) posts that I'll share with you soon enough I hope!

This little story (the drawing up) relates one of my last days in France.
When packing and thinking of  what I'll need once I'll be back.
The answer was quite obvious to me: 41 sized shoes and EXCLUSIVELY this.

I was finally about to take my revenge on this Japanese society were even Devil puts on a 38.

I decided then: shoes were gonna be the VIP travellers of my next suitcase, business class and champagne on board. I guess I just didn't knew where and when to stop this awkward shoes-fixation...

So this is, indeed, just a casual way to say Hello, I am back. So please, stay Tuned!

(By the way I dedicate this quite humble drawing to my bro Dhia, which was the first one seeing reading it, opening my sketchbook he said so-very lackadaisical: " Yeah. Ok. That's funny" Dhia's seal of Approval. Priceless. ; ) Dry wit guys are gonna rule the world, I can tell. )

Love,

11/08 Colombo, Sri Lanka.

( First I'll apologize for this post, but I'd just like people to remember I'm not a travel agency, I write my own experiences, so I'm for the worst or the best, everything but neutral... but I swear I'm usually nice : )  )

How can we define the difference between The Surprising and The Unexpected? A few hours earlier I was asking myself the question, ridding a Tuk-tuk. Although at that time my concerns were referring to a complete different matter (Indeed at that moment I was asking myself: if an accident was to occur now whether it would be "surprising" or "unexpected"? ) this question got quickly to put in a nutshell my short but maybe already too long transit in the great city of Colombo.

To solve my first question I got to the conclusion that an accident at that time would be definitely "surprising" even if the world himself may sound more suitable for a different use. Something unexpected goes out from the range of the realistic possibilities: it is a dinosaur crossing the road or the driver turning into a zombie. It's something you cannot consider as possible, something you cannot expect to happen even when you're meticulously envisaging the worst situation. Whereas a Surprise is just something you wasn't ready for at that T time (not Tea Time) something surely possible, but just breaking the habit of a You mentally withering.

French thinks too much, cliche one more time verified. Apologizes.

Well trying to get back to duty I'd just say that Sri Lanka is a "Be ready for it" country, I wasn't the "I'm ready for it" girl. Diplomatically speaking, let's say I'll may be back one day, In a future life more likely.

What do You think? Can we really say that we "Didn't liked" a country? I don't know why to me this feels so wrong (like KP kissing a girl, suuuch a stupid quote) Anyway I haven't been taught that, haven't been programmed for that. I  always used to be amazed by any tiny thing facing my eyes, as long, not even as long I should say moreover, if that was the unknown, the mysterious, the foreign, the different.
Obviously not always or not for always.

I'm still waiting at the airport, so maybe I'm too hot from the oven to speak no evil as I should. Time always makes everything different. And unlike for our bodies, usually that's for the better.

Contrary to what I may sound I'm not complaining, I had an extraordinary chance consisting in wonderful meetings beginning from the first five hours. I'm just somehow... sad. The day dream I was living about the Magical India I'll visit sometimes vanished in a glance today, bursting bubble of a flatulent  prospective. Well tell me Sri Lanka is not India, and tell me my short day in Colombo wasn't neither. Right. Perfectly right. But still, that's like seeing your supposed charming prince picking his nose and eatin its boogey on the first date.

I won't unpack the past already sent to the tremendous world of memories, no chest opening this time, but people who know me know that I'm not that kind of person you can easily tear down. So, yes, "gentle shit" happened  : D

Thus, why the lovely pictures? Mostly for me to only remember the people who become important to me. Memory is incredibly selective, I advise you to give it a try . But also for you to enjoy reading, and finally simply in an already remorseful attempt to encourage you to give a chance to this country fascinating In so many aspects, 'cuz who am I after all?

Love,

Olfa

A great and lovely family : )
